I’ve just installed my new 8800gt which has replaced my old x850xt and although everything seems to have gone smoothly something is not right.

The frame rates in WoW have not changed at all. I decided to upgrade the card because the 22" monitor I have caused a big performance hit with the 850 and I was expecting the 8800 to make a substantial improvement to performance but this has just not happened.

My current system is

asus A8N premium
2 gig giel ram
AMD 3700 SD

Is the rest of the system slowing the card down or is there something else I’m missing. Any help is much appreciated.

um sounds silly..

but do you have the frame rates set to anything in game? so that they cant go any higher than what you set it. ive never played wow but this happens in other games..

there defo should have been a boost from the GT

Ahh. I never knew that, cheers for the info for future reference. I've only seen Warcraft on "South Park" and the "Leeeeroy Jenkins" video. If I ever want to cast spells and go on magical quests then I'll go to the local zoo and lick a frog ;).

Cuppa, have you overclocked your CPU at all?. If not then you should start to learn as it will start to unlock performances it looks like. If overclocking doesn't help much then maybe try an X2 dual core CPU as that is the cheapest option if you wanted to use the same motherboard.

Thanks for the info guys I may try to OC the chip just to see if it does up the frame rates.

I'm looking to upgrade the CPU and MB anyway but was hoping for a quick fix with the VGA card.
