bfg 8800gt cooler revised?

Took delivery of one of these today to go into a relatives pc, first thing i noticed was thye seemed to have flipped the cooler around and added some bits to it.

I remember people saying they had made the fan larger but ive not seen the cooler reworked in this way before.

Looks like the GS cooler with some bits added on for the power regs.

I think nvidia need someone not half sharp to design coolers for them.

There any way of shutting this fan up? Gets to an annoying whiney pitch.
