Hi

I have a feelign that my fan on my 8800GT isnt fully functioning. according to ATI tool and nVidia control panel, my GPU idles at around 65 degrees at stock speeds of 625/900. This strikes me as high.

In ATI tool the fan speed is showed as 0%, which seems odd, yet the fan is definately spinning. nVidia shows as automatic fan, but there doesnt seem to be any increase in speed when I run the 3D mode in ATI. The direct fan control does nothing. Im struggling to get a reliable readout of the speed of the fan. At no point has it ever got anywhere near the loud full speed spinning it does for a second or 2 at system turn on.

I ran ATI tools 3D mode for about 5 mins an the temperature reached 84 degrees, which for stock, is just stupid. Is there anything I need to be doing to get fan control over my graphics card?

Cheers

use the fan profiles, they are great.

mine idles at 51, and under load 68. without fan profiles it used to be 93!!

65 idle is a lot though.

I have an 8800Gt and mine idles at 64 as well. But mine is running 675/975, not sure if its that much of a difference.

Why would using a profile be important?

**Edit - Have followed setting up the profile in Riva Tuner, now mine idles at 53 :)
