BFG 8800GT grainy/blocky ugly video playback!

anyone know why i could be getting grainy/blocky hd/dvd video playback?

tried various players, powerdvd/windows media plaer etc, all drivers are up to date.

any suggestions?

Try uninstalling powerdvd and using VLC player instead. Had some joy in another thread awhile ago. The OP noticed a better picture when using VLC. I personally thinks it's the PowerDVD codec, as I had this problem, but not after I switched to VLC player instead.

VLC uses its own codecs which is probably why it doesnt have the problem

Are you using Vista? When I had my GTX I noticed that the picture was horribly grainy in Vista.

Went back to XP MCE dual-booted with x64 and the picture is fine in both.
