I am going to flash the bios of my 8800GT as its got the original version when I bought it in novemeber and I have read that the newer bios versions alllow the fan to spin faster under load - on the instructions it says to reinstall my nvidia drivers as the last instruction - is this necessary?

One other thing - does this update increase the fan speed in 2D mode as that would probably annoy me?

post a link to the new bios, and also supply a copy of your current bios, i can use nibitor to check to see if there is a difference to the fan profiles.

I updated the BIOS on mine and it still spins at the same speed all the time, even under heavy load

Yeah this is the same for me ..Updated bios and nofin no differance at all,i flashed card reinstalled drivers ect but its never made the fan spin at different rates. So i use evga presision to run my fan @ a constant 50%

I have just flashed my bios now without reinstalling the driver and its MUCH better. I was playing COJ about 45mins ago for 15mins and the temp was 87c (40% fan speed), now it hits a max of 75c and 73% fan speed (cools down pretty much instantly after quitting a game and idles back at 30%).

El Jimben did you reinstall your graphics drivers after?

I didn't at first no but I updated them yesterday and it didn't make anything difference, the card was still hitting 85c after a heavy COD4 session. I think I'm just gonna get Rivatuner to set it a bit higher when my PC starts to be on the safe side.
