Hello guys, I am just about to order the BFG 8800GT, but I hear, they have changed the size of the fan, to reduce the heat. I am wondering if anyone could tell me whether this card has the bigger version or not.

Thank you.

Well, I have the BFG 8800 GT OC2 card and it comes with the standard stock cooler. Apparently it is the same card as yours, just overclocked by default.

Hope that helps.

It's hard to tell from that picture, but it does look like the smaller fan. However, the 8800GT you receive may have the larger fan - it depends whether OcUK have updated their picture, or not. I've read that the new fan isn't much better than the smaller one, just a bit quieter - does it really matter that much?

If you do care about temperature/noise, fit an aftermarket cooler. If you want to buy the card now, you could buy an Accelero S1 with it, take the stock cooler off and fit the Accelero. Even without a fan, the accelero should cool it down considerably.

I am going to wait until ECS' or Gigabyte's cards go on sale. The ECS comes with an Accelero S1 pre-fitted and the Gigabyte comes with a Zalman HSF I think.

Mine has the small, stock fan, I thought that it was only Leadek that had released one with a bigger fan?

Ok, thanx for the help guys. I don't really care about the fan. My first BFG died and I got a refund, so I was just wondering. I just ordered Inno3D.

Merry x-mas :)

No, apparantly they all are. Don't forget they are all made at the same factory.

Plus new fan cools a few degrees better than the old one but runs at less than half the rpm. Therefore, if you crank up the fan speed on the new card, you can have much better cooling without the noise (old stock fan gets very noisy after 65%). Reports state you can hardly hear the new fan at 100% (depends on how quiet the rest of your system is).

Easy for people to suggest replacing stock cooler but it does invalidate warranty with the exception of EVGA who cover that.

Also people don't want to spend another £15.

Personally, if ordering a GT now I would make sure I got one with the new stock fan.

Sparkle now have their own totally passive one out if silence is important to you.
