Hello,

I maybe bit off more than I could chew with my latest build. My shiny new 9800x2 arrived today and I can't get it working.

I'm using a Asus Striker II Formula nForce 780i and coolermaster 1000W PSU. I install the card, hook up the power cables but when I turn on my comp, my LCD Poster just says "VGA Bios". All the lights on the card are green. Not sure whats wrong at all.

The slot works fine as I've tested it with another card.

Hope someone can help so I can get this beast working.

Thanks

I haven't no. Its quite difficult to get it into any other slot because its so big. The slot works fine as I've tested it with another card.

Would it be worth the hassel to try fit it in another slot?

Are you using a DVI or VGA Cable?

Have you tried plugging the monitor into DVI 2?

For some strange reason, I could not get a signal on DVI 1 on my 8800GT.

I'm usign a VGA cable with a converter using slot 1. I've tried both slots with no luck. (This board has 2 DVI outputs).

Just to a note that the PC doesn't get as far as booting, it doesn't beep to confirm the BIOS check were ok, so it doesn't seem like an output problem.

Ok, I just contact BFG and they say its the mobo. Asus are suppose to release a new BIOS to fix the issue.

Damn, bad news :(. Hopefully it won't be too long. Even hassle Asus for a beta so you can use your card for now. I'm sure they'll have something that will help you but if they will release it is another thing.

What card do you have for now to use whilst you wait for this BIOS fix?.

I'm emailing their tech support now. (If anyone knows a quicker way to get throught to them that would be great.)

Just a 8500GT, suppose its enough to get things up and running.

Nice one. Good luck on that they respond pretty quickly.

For now though, what about overclocking the snot out of that 8500GT and see what you can get out of it. It will take your mind off the current problem also ;).

Yeah, I'll give it a go. I need to tidy up :p Been putting this rig together last couple of days and what an experience. First raptor drive problems now this. I'll get Vista setup and start playing with the 8500.

Before I phoned BFG I sent them an email detailing the problem. They got back to me saying I could setup a warranty replacement RMA. Should I send the card off and get a replacement or wait to get updates from Asus?

The support guy I spoke to from BFG could have been using the BIOS as an excuses as I've read articles and forums where people are stating they have it working with no problems.

Should I send it off?

Also, they state to send it trackable carrier like UPS or FedEX. Would royal mail recorded delivery be ok?
