BFG - Game Over?

Well that could suck. I think BFG will blame nvidia, which is partly true, but also they should have tried to jump on the ATI bandwagon before it was too late.

"We are being told this morning by sources inside BFG Tech that its "PSU department" has been let go. I would suggest that if you have a BFG card that needs to be RMA'd, you need to get that done ASAFP"

I take it ASAFP means "as soon as flipping possible"?

Yup....or something else beginning with "f"

As soon as ******* possible.

where does it stand on the warrantys for psus? i bought a bfg one specifically for the warranty. same with my gtx 280

I think you're flipped with BFG warranties, looks like their Big Flipping Gun has run out of ammo...

this is sad indeed I have always wanted a lifetime warranty simply because if you buy something you want it to be covered.

If you pay extra for it and you usually do it is still worth it.

Sad news because their RMA support was superb.

Warranties these days are rubbish average is 2 years on GPU's which is pants.

Only Zotac seem to do more at 5 years, Asus and Gigabyte do 3 I think.

2 years for a 100/300 item is fine, you usually only get a year warranty on items.

ATI should throw them a life line, BFG is a fantastic brand and ATI-BFG branded video cards would be very popular for those of us who aren't in love with Sapphire.

It was only a matter of time. I guess Nvidia never compensated them.

ATI will probably struggle to get enough TSMC production to supply another partner, but maybe.

Lifetime warranty is absolutely insane really in any business model.

I wonder what percentage are mysteriously damaged when a newer model is about to be released.

I felt they should have only included the life time warranty for the original card, and operated a fair usage policy on replacements.

Big shame. Really great cards, having owned a few. Nvidia need to get their act together. Hopefully their partners can survive

In terms of quality of cards, I've honestly never seen a difference between any brand, Nvidia or AMD, different box sizes and stickers.

But its never nice for people to lose their jobs and a company to go under, hate to stick it to Nvidia(ok, no I don't) but thats yet another partner who couldn't survive with Nvidia's current lack of profits on the high end. Again people will think Fermi being late is somehow an issue, late cards happen, it was the EOL'ing of the last gen before the new gen, and the price the last gen was forced to be sold at which squeezed everyone too hard.

For those who think Nvidia's profits have been great, just remember, they've screwed over every single one of their partners to maintain a very slim profit, so they've managed to stay profitable, but not by much, but lost a bunch of partners to do so.

EVGA, well, you kind of assume will be doing better, they seem the prefered partner, either thats EVGA desparately trying to stay in the game or Nvidia are actually offering them better prices and a little more room for profit, otherwise I can see them being in trouble aswell. Though it would seem right now EVGA need to replace their motherboard team, or ditch motherboards aswell, I would think their motherboard and weird setup design department costs quite a bit(as much as any other companies design team) but have very very low sales compared to other companies.

If EVGA went, Nvidia only really has the OEM types, Zotac, Asus and Gigabyte and the big guys who aren't exclusive and really won't take crap from Nvidia. EVGA/BFG are basically Nvidia only , massively dependant and Nvidia can push them around, Asus, Zotac, Gigabyte won't be pushed around and if Nvidia squeezes their profits they'll just not sell them.
