Hey all,

I'm considering getting:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=GX-044-BG

I've checked out a few reviews, and the benchmarks look very good indeed.

I currently have the X1800XT 256Mb ATI graphics card.

Does anyone have this or an opinion on the card?

PS - System specs:
Case - Aspire X-Cruiser (Blue)
CPU - E6600 Core 2 Duo
CPU Cooler - Arctic Cooler Freezer Pro 7
PSU - Hiper 570W Type-R Modular
Graphics - X1800XT 256Mb ATI
RAM - Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-5400C4 TwinX
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775)
Hard Drive - Maxtor 280Gb

Thanks,

Marky

I would wait until ati release their cards as you got a x1800,card is great but i had some problems with hdtv with mine and Oblivion keeps crashing at moment since i gone from ati to the 8800 gts 320mb and with vanguard it bad with frame rate (might be not enough ram)but that game so buggy so cannot tell.

Why are you saying he shouldn't get it, and wait, when you have this card, is it that bad? :o
He probably just thinks it's best for people to keep their options open, and I don't disagree.

It's not a case of it being months ago when G80 was the only thing on the market anymore, R600 is finally here pretty soon (unless it gets pushed back again) and it might be a great buy. :)

I have one of these cards and they are brillant if your running 1680 x 1050 or below then they are the best choice at the moment get one you won't regret it.

I'll be using a resolution of 1280x1024, so I opted out of going for the 640Mb one.
Oh - and 570W should be enough for the card right? (See first post for specs)

If you dont plan on upgrading your monitor then the 8800GTS 320mb is an excellent choice for that resolution. But like Ulf said there will be the new ati cards out soon so you are best to wait and see what the price/performance is like.

Welcome to the forums. :)

That card will be a staggering boost in performance, and the 320mb GTS's are perfectly fine right up to 16x12, went from an x1800 XT 512mb to the BFG OC 1 here, absolutely decimates the x1800 in every way, but as said above, best to wait a few weeks now for the R600's to show, see what they are like.

I got the 320mb GTS but part of me wishes I had spent the extra and got the 640mb version. I only game at 1280x1024, and even though this card won't run Crysis maxed when it comes out, it will probably run it abit better if it had 640mb onboard...

Got one of these yesterday. Absolutely stunning on 1280x1024. It's not very noisy, atleast, it's not as noisy as my Tuniq Tower.

Swap the fan on the TT - I did and both the noise and the temps plummetted. Swap for a Nexus or Yate Loon fan.

To be honest, the noise doesn't bother me. I had considered swapping fans, but in my P180 and with the 680i, and it's an absolute pig to take the HS out, so I'll survive ^^

Just to confirm again - because I have seen a few people with 8800 GTS's have problems due to power - that the 8800 GTS 320 will be okay with my current spec (My PSU is a Hiper Type R 580W)

Thanks :)

Marky

PS - THIS WEEK ONLY is that until Thursday? Thanks ^^
