BFG GTX280 OC problem

hi there,

I got this card this morning and just got round to trying it out, but i have a few problems.

I turned on my PC and everything booted fine and i got into my desktop and i then restarted so i could format and reinstall windows vista.

When it booted again i didn't get any image on my monitor and the card made random bleeping noises. So i turned off my PC and made sure all the power connectors where in place and then tried it again.

The same thing happens, i get random bleeps and the fan runs at 100% and theres still no image.

My power supply is an Enermax galaxy 850w so i don't see that being a problem. My motherboard is a ASUS maximus formula.

I'm not sure what the problem could be. Does anyone have any idea or had a similar problem??.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!.

How old is your Galaxy ?

The early models were known to produce this error and I had a similar thing when I had one, but this was 2 years ago

If its a newish one then i doubt its the PSU,

Thanks for the reply.

i just checked my OCUK account. I bought it on the 25th Jan 2008, so not even a year old yet.

I thought it could have been the power connectors and i tried the ones i got with the card, but it's still the same.

I just tried it again and noticed on my ASUS LCD Poster that it works as normal without any errors.

I'll give the card a try in another PC. That one has a Enermax Infiniti 720w.

If it does the same then the card must be faulty.

I tired it in another PC with a Enermax Infiniti 720w and it booted fine just like before then i restarted and it the same thing happened. One long beep followed by two short ones with no image on screen. Windows was loading as i could hear the hard drive, but there was no image.

I turned the PC off and left it for 5mins and tired again, it booted fine. The card shows a green light which means the power is fine, so i have no idea whats wrong.

That's two computers i've tried with two different monitors and the same problem happens. Do you think it's a faulty card and should i send it back?.

Seems to happen once i restart the computer then i'll get no image.

sounds faulty to me if its happening on more than one system, best bet would be to rma it and get a new one

Yeah i'm going to RMA it tomorrow, nothing much else i can do. This was the reason why i've always been put off getting a GTX280 because i've heard so many people having a faulty card :(.

Are both your pc's running different motherboards ?

Yeah, mines is running a x38 mobo and the other is a P45.
