Looking to buy a 8800GTS 640mb from one of the above manufacturers
anyone tell me which is better , if any ?
Probably swinging towards the BFG with the lifetime warranty.

If you plan on changing the heatsink, eVGA. I somewhat regret going BFG, will go eVGA next time.

Personaly my plan all along was to wait till 2nd or 3rd gen DX10 but my 6600 is dying :( so i have to upgrade soon. Illl be going evega and hopefully i can hold out long enough to get the G92's or whatever they are in that 90day window.

I get my exam resluts on 23rd of aug so ill be ordering a few days later, that gives me till about the 25th of november.

Id rather nvidea didnt relese it this year rather than a few days/week after my setup runs out :( but if its not out by then then ill look to GTX maby

I will probably stick with the stock heatsink anyways ,but any reason imparticular ?
( surely pulling the sink off voids the warranty anyways ? )
And how noisy are the stock heatsinks anyway ?

Thanks guys

Evga allow you to take the stock heatsink off and still keep the warranty, They also have a step up programe to which u can upgrade in 3 months.

If your rig is as (otherwise) quiet as mine, the GTX is noticeably noisy...but as performance cards go, it isn't bad.

I think you can only step up to the next highest card in the same series? Which is the 8800GTX, if i'm wrong, then great :D.

This is the main reason to go for EVGA over BFG is for the Step-Up program

I've got 62 days left on the step up.

I've been thinking about this lifetime warranty with BFG cards, which although on the face of it is a good thing, is it really worth that much more than any other decent warranty?

I mean, realistically, how long are you likely to keep a graphics card for? I'm not sure what EVGA's warranty period is, but 3 to 5 years sounds about the right length of warranty to me. A good balance between a decent warranty and not something that costs a fortune for a graphics card manufacturer to run, which inevitably gets passed on to consumers.

Having said that, I wonder how many people have returned a graphics card to BFG after 9 years or something anyway?!

Much better I think, to choose the company that offers the best quality and fastest RMA service. I'd rather get that support now in the next couple of years rather than something 5 years down the line when the card will most likely be an antiquity anyway!

So, if I was choosing between those companys right now, I'd probably choose the EVGA brand owing to the superior things I've read and heard about their RMA service, even though BFG's is not the worst in the world.

The step up thing is just not worth it in my opinion though, there are lots of posts on here about peoples experiences with it if you want to search, so I wouldn't let that sway you.
