I need to send my 280OC back to BFG as it is suffering random shutdowns (some people say it's drivers, but I tried 5 versions, and why would a driver cause the card to crash in POST, as it sometimes does, anyway).
I filled in the support form on their site on Sunday night and got a reply Monday teatime asking for details so they could forward them on to the local service base. These were provided early Monday evening.
How long should I wait for a mail from Wales then, before concluding my email is broken?

(I know it's not even 24 hours yet, but I'm off work next week, am planning lots of gaming, and would much rather have a 280-OC than the 8600GT I'll be stuck with until it's replaced. As such I an VERY anxious to get the ball rolling).

It's just that some people report instant responses, and I do not trust me email. I wont start bothering Jeff unless it's been ages.

Found a potential fix too while reading that BFG RMA thread.

My mates 8800GTS 640mb randomly failed recently and he got in contact with BFG.
A I recal they e-mailed him back fairly swiftly and offered to replace it with a 9800GT even tho the card (GTS) pre-dated their online registration/guarnatee infrastructure, very decent of them, hope you have a good experience with em too

I'm here if you need help. Let me know if you don't get a response by tomorrow, and I can take care of this for you :)

Thanks Jeff. Although I really did only start the thread cos I'm concerned at their email going getting lost in the system as I never have trusted it ;)

In the meantime, while reading that HUGE other thread full of ungrateful gits trying to scam upgrades, I did spy a fix that worked for one guy, so I am trying that.......putting a little cardboard shim inbetween the two power inputs to gently encourage better pin contact......if the problem is there, this might fix it and save an RMA. I'm a big fan of this kind of fix and have often wondered why nobody has tried curing cancer with cardboard shims :D

I shall let you all know if this has any effect.

If not, I MIGHT just hold fire on the RMA until after my weeks off work, the card works well enoufg for Rfactor and usually I can get a few laps in Iracing too before it fails, and that may well be better than nothing when sitting round the house for a fortnight with not much to do.
