A couple of days ago I registered my graphics card on BFG's website, when I hit submit it said that they would send me an email but they haven't, I can log into my profile on BFG's site and see that I have my 8800gtx in my profile but it says the following,

"Registration Not Complete: In order to complete your registration, please send POP (proof of purchase) using one of the methods below:
Email: [email protected]
Fax: 630.579.3529"

So what do I need to email them exactly, anyone done this before ?

That must be a pretty new thing then?

The two times I've registered my BFG cards, I've not had to supply proof of purchase. They weren't 8800's though!

My guess is you just need to email them a copy of your e-receipt, if you have one, or a scan of it?

With the amount of 2nd hand kit that trades these days, I can see why they might have introduced such a measure.

Just noticed myself that BFG warranty registration changed for cards bought on or after 21st feb 08

http://www.bfgtech.com/warranty.aspx

Big change so that life(10 year in uk) cover can no longer be passed on to 2nd owner.
Fair enough i suppose as that was how it was meant to be anyway but never properly enforced/checked.

I wonder if they are pointing it out to new owners that they only have 30 days from purchase date to register the new card?

Similar to EVGA's now

Nice cop out clause as well

Was not modified or damaged by overclocking, tampering, user error, accident, disaster, abuse, misuse, power supply, power application, alteration, repair, modification, a fix or replacement by someone other than BFG Technologies.

Will be interesting to see if they are are as liberal with replacements etc in the future.

Good thing I remembered seeing something about this. Just got a 8800 GTS and nowhere on the box or the leaflets does it mention having to go online to activate the warranty, never mind having to do it within 30 days.

Lame and seems borderline illegal.

Having read this I went and checked my registration I made of my 8800Gt a month ago... I sent them a POP and got an email thanking me, yet just logged in and have:

Model: invalid FX5800

So not only is the card not registered, but they dont even have the right one down!

Another point to remember about the new BFG warranty is that the card has to be registered within a certain date from purchase, if not you lose the 10 year warranty & reverts to a 1 year warranty only.

Only applies purchases after a certain date, as stated above.
