Ive got a creaking old 2500k @ 4.3, 16gb 1600 Ram and a 970 and play at 1080 with a 144hz monitor. Really enjoying BFV but I'm taking a battering on frames :( even with everything set at low i'm getting drops down to 35-40 when it gets very busy. I'm assuming its down to my i5 ? watching system usage in game looks like my gpu is around 70% but my cpu is in the high 90% most of the time.

I've located a 3770k that's never been clocked so I was going to try that and see if it helped, or should I just upgrade now ? I really can't upgrade to what i'd like at the moment as works not great, I could prob raise £400 with the sale of my old kit and was looking at the Ryzen 5 2600 bundle.

If the 3770k would bump me 10-15 fps I'd be able to hold off for a while until I can afford what I'd really like.

Thanks :)

so if im not mistaken then your 2500k(stock) should be on par or better than the FX-8350 assuming what ive read over time to be accurate? and anyone with the knowledge knows the 970 is better than both the 660 and 1050, id imagine you have tried a beta that may not have been optimized?

I've been playing the final release since the 8th on origin access, have all the latest drivers also. I get 60-70 fps when there is not much going on but as soon as there are a couple of tanks and loads of players I'm getting drops down to 35-40 at points with lagging.

ah right okay then, i dont use origin much, so didnt realize, well in that case have you tired to overclock the 970? what settings you at because your computer falls in the middle, so be low-medium? 144hz im sure is killing it, try what the first reply was and just do normal 1080?

Sorry was the first post confusing, i'm using a 144hz monitor but I'm not locking the frame rate. I'm playing at 1080 with in game scaling set at 100, every setting set to low with Future Frame Rendering set to on. Only thing I have turned up is the FOV to 90 Hoz.

Just to update I bought a Ryzen 5 2600, MSI B450 Tomahawk and Team group 16GB 3000 Ram still using my old 970.

Running on all low settings Im getting 120-140 solid frames, at medium settings 80-90. No crushing frame drops at all, smooth as butter even with the 2600 at stock :)

Clocked to 4.0ghz now @ 1.35v, I'll look at core usage tonight and post some pics, I usually play on low anyway in BF to help pick people out but may look at a new GPU

nice mate! manage to see overaly of how the cpu workload is compared to the previous system ?

also, running DX12 ? i know its a bit broken at mo, but when its fixed... should help again !

should be able tio push 4ghz all cores just fine :D

Running at 4.0 @ 1.35V temp sits at 51 in game, load on all the cores is fairly even and sits at 65% ish on most maps but up to 80 on occasion. On my old 2500k at 4.4 it was 99% all the time in game :)

HTH

thats good, i bet when it hits 80% your around a lot of players in a firefight ?

hopefully we have reached the point of Cores/threads being used correctly :)

still, want to see a perfect games thread wise, Lost Planet 2/3 :)

Yeah multiple tanks, planes and plenty of infantry. I turned up the settings to high and tbh my 970 wasnt too bad at 60-70 frames, seemed stable. Have been looking at a 1070ti or a Vega 56 but I'll probably put it off now unless there are some good deals over xmas.
