Hi folks,

We've just bought our son for christmas a HP 6735s http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press_kits/2008/connecting/ds_bn_6735s.pdf see datasheet, after reading a review and reading that it was capable of playing CoD4 with eye candy turned down.

Anyway, i now realise that this is impossible as it seriously lags when trying to play anything at all so, even though its less than a week old, i'm looking to upgrade it but i dont know what, apart from the RAM, i can upgrade.

The chip its come with is a sempron (i know this isnt great) but i've seen an athlon 64 X2 3000 mobile for sale cheap, will it go straight in and if so do i have to take the case apart to do this as there is no bay like there is for RAM to make life easy.

There is also only 1gb RAM in now, so im off to get 2gb of new RAM tomorrow, another question though is how can i increase the amount of shared memory for the graphics (ATI HD 3200 onboard) as i cant find any options at all in the BIOS to do this?

Any help greatly appreciated please :)

The chip ive seen is a mobile, certainly going to outperm the sempron thats in it now, i'm just wondering if HP will use the same motherboard for the sempron that i've got that they use for the rigs they ship with turion's in etc.

Cant see any software settings at all within the catalyst control panel :(

Hmmmmmmm.....food for thought i suppose!

I desperately need to know if i will be able to drop the Athlon XP 3000 mobile in though. I've done some digging and found that the Sempron is socket S1, is there any utilities kicking about like Everest that will work on Vista tht will tell me what the max chip is i can put in?

Also, heat wise? What are Semprons like for disappating heat? If i can get a mobile 3000 straight in it how likely to need a new heatsink etc too?

Cheers beermonster, the thing i really need to know though is whats the chances of me being able to drop the turion straight in?

Will HP have used the same motherboard for the entire range and what about the heatsink etc?
