That Golden Rule is an epic song, very similiar to an older song of theirs (Now The Action Is), but I'm really looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.
I know what you mean. I absolutely adore most of their older stuff. Puzzle was a great album but I think the likes of Blackened Sky suit them much better so I'm very interested to see what they've produced this time around.
I saw them live at the Apple Store D) a couple of weeks ago and they were epic. I still can't believe how much (good!) noise a 3 person band can make. Stunning. And the new album sounds absolutely fantastic. Rah!
Listened to it yesterday via myspace and it sounds like their best album to date. Yes, its more mainstream but very, very good. Will be getting a copy monday.
Euch. If the new album was them as a new band or from a different group completely, I think I could like it, but it's frustrating to listen to it when I know what they have done in the past (Infinity / Vertigo).
It's a good album, but it's not the Biffy I've loved for so many years. I was hoping they'd take a step back to their old roots after Puzzle but they've gone this way instead
I first saw biffy on the Vertigo tour on a recomendation from a friend and was hooked from that moment; although I enjoyed Puzzle, it was missing that 'different spark' that was present in the former albums.
What they're doing is great and has brought them much success, hats off to them but I now find I get the spark I so much enjoyed originally from their spinoff/collaberation bands Marmaduke Duke and Succioperro.
I shall still be buying this new album and no doubt it shall be played through mucho, I'll probably report back once I've given it a fair listen and judgement
Having listened to it a few times I think it's great, but I reckon a lot of die hard fans will be disappointed as the bands themselves have said for months that they'd be returning to classic Biffy. Although they haven't, I still love the album. There are a lot of excellent tunes on it and 'Bubbles' is standing out to me at the moment.
