Big big problems

Hi all

I have had my new system running for a while now and today I decided to try to do a small overclock. Now before starting with this, the system was running fine, and my games were playing really well.

I followed all the guides on here and I got my overclock upto 3.00ghz,which started into vista fine and played games okay.

After about 1 hour I did not feel happy with this overclock,so I went back into the bios and loaded the fail-safe defaults to go back to normal.

Now vista loads fine, but each time I try and play a game it either reboots all I get a bsod, any ideas please ?

Loading fail safe defaults dosnt always reset things to normal. Double check all the settings are back to normal especially fsb bus speeds and ram multiplyers.
Why was you not happy with 3ghz that a nice overclock if it worked i would leave it at that unless your temps are really low.

Hi all,

I was not happy with the overclock because it just did not feel right compared with how it had been running before (I know sounds weird :))

If I can cure this problem then I will have another go and see how it is then.

I have not cleared the cmos yet,I will try this next.

Thanks for the help

Hi all,

Just to let you all know, the problem is sorted YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I forgot I had to up the DDR2 overvoltage control just a little bit and that has now cured the problem.

Yipppeee

I will let the system sort it self out for a while, just to make sure it is nice and stable then I will have another go and see what I can get .

Thanks for all of the help everyone :D

Whenever you overclock always always do an Orthos DC test. If it passes 8 hours of a blend test then you system should be perfectly stable. As always keep an eye on the temps of your CPU though. Those quads run hot.

Talking of temps, how good is speedfan for temp readings.I am running vista 64bit so I find that this one works fine.On normal internet usuage etc my four cores are about 32.c,and goes upto about 40.c in games.
