Went for a little ride on the moors yesterday, near Swainby. Was looking promising, not too cold, not many walkers then my mate's chain snapped  I went a bit further on but if you're considering venturing out that way I'd leave it until it dries out a bit as it was just thick, claggy clayey mud :( Hence mucky bike (and a bit of shameless pimping of my new grips....)

Sunday's are supposed to be cracking value for money, no telling how much that one will go for though.

If I were you I would register on southern downhill forums and go to the classifieds there, it seems to be a buyers market at the moment and you can pick up an awesome s/hand downhill bike for a grand, there are Spesh Demos for sale all the time on there for example.

My Brother in law has his Boot'r for sale if you're interested.

It has an upgraded handlebar (RaceFace Atlas FR) and stem (Twenty6 F1 ... cost about 130ish). He's selling for £1000, think he used it about 15 times, which is also the reason for sale, he doesn;t get time to ride.

A quick one guys, I'm looking to replace the fork on my hardrock with, well something which doesn't have the feel of being made of concrete for starters, current is a stock suntour which is very unresponsive and has pretty vicious rebound too.

Looking for something nice and plush as it's purely for recreational use around London, I have my FSRxc back at my parents for serious trails. I'm also thinking I'll go for a 100mm instead of the stock 80 as I think the geometry will work out ok - any recommendations? I'm thinking I'll just go for a rockshox recon silver at the moment unless somebody has a better idea...

v nice bike that mongoose, will certainly consider it thanks.

Is the 09 version of the commencal supreme much better?

I'm already a member of southerndownhill, its where i found the iron horse, havent seen much interesting for 1k though, demos are about 2.5 atm

I would also like to know what the biggest travel fork that the Hardrock could take without screwing things up and, although I know its personal pref, what fork people would recommend upto £150
Ta

Prob a Rock Shox Recon to be honest. Decent fork and I have seen them on sale for £125 delivered in the latest issue of MBUK (cant remember what store though)
That or a 2nd hand Air sprung fork like a Rock Shox Tora or similar?
The frame warranty would prob be void if you altered the Fork's travel in any way so unless I am mistaken you will be limited to 100mm.

Surely a decent manufacturer like Specialized wouldn't invalidate a warranty on a frame simply because you fitted a different fork ?

Also, its an 80mm fork that's on it, is 100mm the biggest I could get away on it before the handling screws up ?

Afternoon guys I'm looking for a lightweight windproof and decently waterproof jacket for out on the bike, don't want to spend massive amounts of money so what would everyone recommend?
