Just ordered a rather controversial helmet :D

I love the look of them, want a trail helmet with more protection than my Met Parachute (offers no back of head protection, and I haven't used the chin guard for ages), and think some of the features here look really cool - especially the forehead pad -I sweat like a mofo.

Anyway I got it for £68 from leisurelakes (had a discount code for doing a review - nice!) they're £79.99 on CRC.

Fitted my new Maxxis Highrollers last night (2.35 60a) They are replacing some rather worn Kenda Nevegal's.
Looking forward to the next ride :) I have to say they look a bit narrow for 2.35, a characteristic of Maxxis?

just looks like a skate/bmx helmet with a peak and less vents

id rather trust protec who have been doing it for years, has better ventilation and only costs £45!

Pro tec helmets are heavy though wouldn't want to use one on a long ride. How does the endur o matic compare to say a fox flux in weight? Have to agree though the ventilation does look a little lacking.

Do like the shape :D

Their site will allow you to buy anything, but they only tell you if it's in stock or not once they've taken the money from your account/credit card. If it's not in stock and you want your money back, you have to wait 5 working days for a refund.

In my case, being so close to xmas, I wouldn't have had the money back until early Jan they estimated, and they said they'd have the bits I ordered by then so I decided to wait. I finally got the bits last week, and I had to chase them!
I'd like to add CycleSport UK to the list with Leisure Lakes as shops you should steer well clear of when ordering online

I bought an Altura jacket from them a few weeks ago which turned out to be too short, so I phoned the sales support line to see if the size up was any longer but they didn't answer. Tried again the next day, still no answer. I emailed using the webform on the website, then when I'd had no reply 3 days later I emailed the customer services address directly - still no answer.

I gave up and resturned the jacket to them with a note saying I'd tried to contact them, 4 days later I get an email saying they'd received and it and were processing the refund which would take up to 5 working days. That was last wed. Having left it 5 working days I still don't have the refund, so I phoned them again and they answered this time, saying they hadn't actually processed it at all, and would take another 5 days.

I'm just gonna stick with CRC from now on I think!

Wow, some pretty shoddy service there.

I've only ever used CRC and Wiggle. Both are superb.
Wiggle seem to have slightly faster delivery times to me in the Highlands but when I have had to return anything, CRC's turnaround has been 1st class

Yeap, Maxxis measurements come out narrower.
However the difference between Nevegals and High rollers are day and night...the Nevegals being POO!

Older Maxxis tyres are one size too small.
I have a 2.4 Ardent which is one of the newer designs and that is the correct size. It's wider than my Specialized Clutch 2.3.

Just chipping in as far as service for bike bling ordering goes - Used loads of different places but tend to stick with CRC, Wiggle, Edinburgh Bike Co-op and also PBK.

PBK caters mainly for roadies / TT and Tri users although a lot of the other kit crosses over to any cycling use really. Excellent service and if you get on their email alert mailing list for offers there can be some serious, serious price reductions to be had.

I have to say the Nevegal’s worked out ok for me, I just fancied a change. The High Rollers get decent reviews so here’s hoping I can get some more speed on the descents at Golspie and Balblair (and grip on the climbs of course)

I'm sure they are OK if you havent had better before - i.e: the far far far superior High Rollers!
The Nevegals don't roll as well and neither do they grip as well.

Excellent :) Glad to hear it.

Next up is some new wheels. I've been warned off the Halo Combat's due to weight/cost but the Alexrims DP-17's I am currently using do not get good reviews at all, despite performing well for me.

I guess it's the last "stock" component on my Hard tail that I want to upgrade more than anything (you know, the whole "new bike stuff" bug)

I'm just under 10 stone so I'm no heavyweight but tend to throw the bike around allot (jumps, drops etc) and am hoping to get a set that are strong, reliable and not too expensive. Also, is there a set (inc hubs) that I can just stick my existing Shimano HG50 11-34 cassette onto?
Brakes are Avid Elixir 5's with stock rotors

I really do fancy a new bonce protector the 661 Recon and the EnduroMatic are really hot favourites!
Edit: would like a pro-tec cyphon but can't find any in the country!! :(
This is my porn:
