Depends where you ride. I would destroy that bike in 1 ride. No offence

You'd probably destroy my Kona a few posts up too then! What do you ride? DH, dirt jump? FR?

My trials bike bought this to try and get into that sort of riding but didn't as my friend who i did it with had a bad fall on his bike so it stopped him, So all i really do know is ride the streets on it with my mates.

More like aggresive XC. Some of the stuff I wouldn't like to ride on a Hardtail. VERY rocky. I would probably kill my air shock (Float RL) doing DH.

I ride downhill tracks on my hardtail Dr Jekyll! Just depends how heavy you are on components etc! Ive been off some pretty big drops etc on my Hardtail and its fine! Makes you a better rider in the long run as well :)

I have been to a couple of DH races where there is always 1 guy who rides on a Hardtail. Proper loony IMO. :p

My 2002 Saracen X-Tort Extreme.

Cost me a grand, excellent bike though. Real old school.

Front and back Hayes hydraulic disks, Mavic D321 disc rims, front and rear hope hubs (front is a 20mm thru-axle hub), 2002 Marzocchi Bomber Dirt Jumper 1 forks 130mm travel open bath etc., Nokian Gazza beefy 2.3 tyres.

I used to be well into my bikes and so did all my mates, I used to have some serious skill. I used this bike for everything, street riding/trials ie. drop offs, wheelies, manuals, endos, backhops, pedal hops, front hops etc. dirt jumping although i could only ever do x ups and tabletops, nothing much more and the bike was also excellent for downhill/trails.

Unfortunately I stopped riding a couple of years ago because of mates moving onto uni etc. and I have no interest whatsoever now, I got a car to get around and I'm much more into my drinking. It's just sat in my garage but I refuse to sell it, I'll get back into it one day.

Don't be put off from the frame manufacturer, Saracen make a lot of cheap, crappy bikes yep but this bike was their exception, the frame is lightweight and really strong, excellent geometry and the components were top notch in the day.

Still bet I've got more skill than anyone on here :p

Hehe, just found these on my camera phone... My mate Paul on his On-One Inbred 456 at 7 stanes.

Snack time

What's 7 Stanes like? - just got a bike and planning on a trip down to the Ae place next weekend?? any good?

It's really good, my favorite riding so far. Lots of diversity between the different locations.

Tweed valley red route is probably my favorite, it's like a rollercoaster, lots of up then beutiful down that can be done on any trail bike, the more suspension the faster you go + there's a jump area 1/3rd of the way up to play on. Dalbeattie Hardrock Trail makes a great change of pace, lot's of stone paths + the infamos 'slab', a 40 odd foot lump of granite to ride down. Deffo worth travelling to a few different locations as they are all good really.

I'm wanting to try the Tweed valley black run in a few months.

Ae is good as well, went last year on the trail run, hard work but worth it, some of the paths where bogged out but temp ones where setup. The last decent is ace, excellent flowing jumps n drop-offs.

Got talking to the trail designer last year, was a sound bloke. He's built in a drop-off about half way down the last run that is very big, watch out for it.

Just got my Marin Alpine Trail back from the LBS after a lovely crash last week at Dalby trying some of the new routes that have opened.

Ripped off the gear hanger and buckled the back wheel, it was a long walk back to the van.
Also treated myself to some DMR V8 pedals.

Bin the tyres, Tioga Factory XC's should have been kept in the factory tbh :p, they'll give you more punctures than an nail bed ;)

Not much of a crash then? ;), what are the Tora's like? (+ nice bike :))

Guys, need a little bit of help.

I need a bike for the odd mess around in the park and also for getting round town, i don't need something thats comfortable for miles as town is fairly small, most i will ever do is about 2 miles in one stint.

I really am a n00b in choosing a bike, and my past efforts have been really heavy full sus sub £100 jobbies, alas none have lasted long and been broken.

I would say i don't want to spend more than £300, and the only places to actually buy bikes i can get to and try stuff out is Halfords : /

So, going to be looking at buying online methinks, so i take it they come flatpacked and i have to build them myself? They come with instructions lol?
I would rather enjoy building one :)

Just some ideas guys, then i can start looking.

Its my first full susser so to be honest I can't really give you a review of these forks as I have nothing to compare them against.
I think they're great but they are a fairly budget fork.
