I decided to change the direction of my current system, I've had P35, X38 and my current motherboard was the Rampage Extreme which is an excellent board and preformed well but I just fancied something totally different so I came up with this.

Spec of my new system

QX9650
EVGA 780i F T W
8GB Gskills 8500C5
3x 280 GTX
2x 74GB VelociRaptor in Raid 0
1200w Pc Power and Cooling Supply

I am just amazed by this system even with its massive overclock its rock solid and heart touching :) and it eats games like Crysis Warhead alive.

The key think I have learned is only use 45nm chips with these boards and keep the board nice and cool

Good going smirnoff. I know that the nvidia chip boards arent that popular on here, i used to have an evga 680i a1 rev. Got my e6600 to 3.7ghz on air. The fact that your using a quad is even more impressive, because the 6/780i arent renowned for their quad clocking ability. Nice one.

Maybe I just got lucky with the board but the key thing I feel is using 45nm chips, If I stick a Q6600 in it doesnt clock half aswell as it should and the system is BSOD city.

Epic score mate. Why such a high multiplier?

I'm running 8gb of ram @ 800 MHz and I like to run everything in sync so 400 FSB x 10.5 = 4200

Can we see photos of your build? :)

Its just in an Antec 1200 that hidden under my desk its nothing special looking

DDR3 makes little difference and I didnt want to spend £400 + on ram, even with DDR2 this setup beats most I7 setups.

So nothing at all to do with the fact that you probably won't get much more FSB out of that board with a 45nm quad?

Not really much need to when you got an unlocked multi and i'm not going to get 8gb of ram running much faster, I will try cutting it down to 4gb and seeing if there is any more FSB headroom on the board when i get time.

For comparison, here's my 2xGTX280 setup on a 790i:

The price difference between DDR3vs DDR2 and 780i vs 790i would pay for that extra GTX. I would wage tho that an extra GTX in my rig would break 30k. An i7 rig with triple SLI would no doubt beat both mine (even if I had triple SLI) and Smirnoffs.

Nice! Personally I've been having a hell of a hard time getting my 790i stable, I just can't seem to push the FSB to anything above Q9550! >.<
