Its been rumoured for quite a while but its now been confirmed in this statement,
Channel 5 has signed a deal to air Endemol reality show Big Brother later this year.

The hit show, which launched the careers of Jade Goody, Kate Lawler and 'Nasty' Nick Bateman, was dropped by Channel 4 last year after a decade on air and 11 series. The programme also spawned a number of hit spinoffs and sister shows such as Big Brother's Little Brother and Celebrity Big Brother.

A full confirmation on the programme's return details is expected to be announced tomorrow. However, according to The Guardian, the deal will apparently last five years and a Celebrity edition is expected to begin in August. A traditional non-celebrity edition will follow in September.

Richard Desmond's Channel 5 have been linked to Big Brother since last summer when it concluded on Channel 4. Negotiations between the broadcaster and producers Endemol have broken down on several occasions, but they have now finally reached an agreement.

A report in the Desmond-owned Daily Star earlier this month suggested that stars such as Charlie Sheen, Mohammed al-Fayed and Amy Childs would be approached to take part in the first Celebrity series on the channel.

Davina McCall, who hosted every series on Channel 4, previously ruled herself out of presenting the show again. Vanessa Feltz, Brian Dowling, Jeff Brazier and Emma Willis are the early bookmakers' favourites to land the job.

Thoughts? I wasnt surprised TBH, it makes decent money for the station, Davina isnt going to do it so ive heard.

Well at least it means c4/e4 and all the others wont be clogged up for 23 hours a day with this drivel. C5 barely has anything going and is easy enough to ignore.

Unfortunately the other main channels including the Beeb jump on the inane BBwagon of latest news, and evictions, as well as radio, and newspapers.

oh ffs .. i stoopped watching this after season 2 .. what sad gits continue to put up with this drivel ??? and they bb kicked off teh whole reality tv pants weve had the last 10 years .....

its the bloddy same all the time .. if one shows gets a remote hint of success , EVERY tv station copies it to death :(

It'll only be back for one year and people will realise it's still **** and won't bother with it again.

I agree with this. You can just see it happening.

I absolutely love Big Brother though so the news of Channel 5 running it is good. Davina has said that she won't do it but I'm sure she would if the price was right :D

if you dont like it....... dont watch it! quite simple really.
being on c5 it will get less publicity anyway.

not likely, she'll be in america doing xfactor and random other stuff. shes not doing uk xfactor this year iirc.

davina again

Speaking of american x factor, isn't that what american idol already is? I mean that's a simon cowell product isn't it?

April Fools?

nope serious.

it was only touted as the last season etc etc as C4 were fed up with it, so they were dropping it. Endomol wouldn't drop it themselves, it was always gonna go to another channel.
