My gran is struggling with a small old nokia she has, she even struggle to lock and unlock the phone as the first buttton you press is the centre button but she hits it left/right/up/down and can not just press it directly down...so I need a phone for her that has the following

1. big buttons (can be a big phone with big screen - all the better)
2. easy lock/unlock
3. must be unlocked or on Three (UK)
4. big buttons

preferably elderley friendly for bringing up stored numbers and calling

can anyone help please?

thanks

thanks but i think only the one that lets you ring 4 numbers would be good for her but she has more than 4 numbers to ring - something like but also HUGE buttons for dialing, she 90 yr old cant even unlock a Nokia so have to bare that in mind, her credit keeps disappearing so thing she isnt locking it when she thinks she has then its calling numbers

The Doro's IMHO aren't actually that good.
They charge a massive premium for not very much.
On the flip side, a lot of the other large button stuff is Chinese imports with iffy software or no manuals.

Three UK is going to be a problem for most of the 'easy' / big button phones though, as they generally tend to be 2G only.

For the unlock problem, try a flip phone. This has the advantage of only being unlocked when physically open.
I'd personally be looking for the biggest keypad I could find in a flip phone, and probably backlit as well.

great reply

thanks mate - yeah ive seen a few i liked and all say not compat with Three which is wierd cos they user regular GSM for calls dont they? I have my data off ALL the time on three and i can call and text people?

looks like a large button clam phone might be the answer

cheers

Not exactly, the other networks uses 2G for calls and texts, but 3 doesn't have a 2G network and uses 3G for that instead. Hence why these devices aren't compatible. You can disable the mobile data connection but it will still be connected via 2G/3G.

aye ive seen on my phone it has 2G call time and 3G call time - it was simply for the price per minute on the 3-2-1 PAYG which is just 3p a minute to all numbers... ATM she with EE / T-Mobile and gets charged a fortune, so we wanted to get a phone thats 90yrs old granny friendly that takes 3 sim

My mum isn't as old as your gran but I got her the Doro 612 and she loves it. She is also a complete technophobe. I'm sure I got it in tesco, so it might be worth looking there, if you have one nearby, to check them out.

My Gran (who is 96) has the Doro 612. It's crap.
I wanted her to get the Doro 820 or 820 Mini but when she said to the sales girl she wanted a Doro, they sold her the heap that is the 612.

Take a look at the 820. There's a good video of it on the tube.

thanks for the help so far guys...might be worth getting a large clam flip phone with big buttons as its locked when closed so that sorts that out, plus the Doro dont work on 3 so Im told

Someone in our family has a Doro PhoneEasy 612. I don't think much of it. Very poor battery life. Personally I don't think the menus are especially easy to use, more complicated if anything. Never used the hearing aid features. Maybe they are awesome dunno.

I think a basic flip phone from Samsung or similar would be just as good if not better, otherwise.

i got a doro for my 75 year old father, it was a pile of crap and while the buttons were slightly larger, he couldn't read the screen, ended up getting him a moto g and DL some apps to give him big buttons, big text, even found a app to make the ring tone louder so he can hear it
