8800GTS ?

Trying to keep costs down as changing mobo and memory but could do with advice on 320 or 640. With my current setup will I still see an improvement getting the 320? Only asking as it has less memory than my current card.

Thanks :)

You'll see a huge improvement, of course.

But whether you should choose the 320mb or 640mb is really up to what resolution you run on your monitor, and how future-proof you want the 3d card to be.

Games are starting to use massive amounts of video memory so the 640mb will no doubt shine in future games.

Yeah what res do you run at?
1280 X 1024 and even 1600 X 1200 - the 324 GTS will be just fine...
Higher res than 1600 X 1200 and the 640 one will see you better for future games...

1600X1200 mainly. I use an old 22" CRT Diamond Pro.

I change things every 6 to 12 months so the 320 should do for now.

this is an enthusiasts forum right? i ask becuase people continually pick great parts and then ask if they are gonna be any good? it just seems like they want attention to me.....

The 320mb 8800gts can have a big loss in fps if you use 4xAA compared to the 640mb 8800gts

If you think 18fps at 1600x1200 in bf is worth the extra money the 640mb costs go for it otherwise get the 320mb version. If your going to play above 1600x1200 get the 640mb.

Yup, the 320MB is okay at 1600x1200, but due to the memory the X1950XTX betters it with 4xAA in most games due to the 512MB.

If you game at 1600x1200, get a 8800 640MB.

Its not so much if the parts are any good, its more to make sure the parts are going to do what you want them to do.

If I wanted attention, I'd run around the office with my trousers on my head rather than ask important questions about buying computer parts. :)

Think I might have to stick with the 320. Can't really stretch anymore.

Depends on how much you have to spend really...BUT, I have seen the Leadtek 640mb 8800GTS for £If it aint OcUK, don't quote prices !!
