Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Midnight Grey
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-009-DE&groupid=17&catid=510&subcat=

however i need to use it to view freeview, i have a seperate freeview digibox but it has scart out and i dont think it has svideo out, so i cant use it with the dell ?

or i could get a 42" plasma however it doesnt support the very high resolutions of the dell or the games i play......... and i heard that hud's will screen burn it ?

or

an lcd tv, however not sure which are any good and ill have the same resolution problem!!!

what do i do ?

If you are a heavy user, and not very wealthy, I suggest you stay away from plasma. Just check the life in hours of the crystals and you will be convinced (~30k hours for plasma and more power consumption ~250W as opposed to LCD ~50k hours and 150W. Power for around 40 inches) .

Another point to consider is the resolutions. Higher resolution is always better, epsecially if you can do 1:1 mapping is like buying all the lowest res monitors in one package at the same price tag generally speaking.

Finally, you need to decide if you are interested in overall size and the room it is going to fill. If you plan putting this in the living room for the family and friends, then 24" (at least for me) is not enough.

Is your call, just make sure you buy something that will fullfill its purpose IMO. The last time I tried to buy something Magical which "can do everything", it only did one good and I paid for all :p

you could go from a 40' or 42' 1080p LCD tv, that way you would have a nice big screen along with an awesome resolution.

as the dude above said, plasma are not as good as lcd in terms of life of the product etc.
