I ordered a Shuttle case and the attorted gubbins to go inside, including a PowerColor HD 3870 XT.

Now I come to put it all together, I've got to the graphics card and ..ahaha.. it won't fit. The case is too thin for the cooler, and also I've found there's no appropriate power cable for the card either.

Am I right in thinking I can just return the card and get a thinner one (distance-selling regulations and all that)? Also, for the card's power cable, is it just a case of getting an adapter for it or would it need a different PSU?

The length is fine. I've also found a molex adapter in my spare bits I can use for the power, the only issue is the large cooler.

Are there any aftermarket coolers that are low enough to only use one slot?

I was tempted to try and cut a hole in the side, but I think that's beyond my expertise. I'm going to return the card and get a single-slot one, probably a 3850 or a 9600. I don't think I'll need anything as powerful as a 8800GT.
