Big Issues with TalkTalk!

Hi all,

My brother is on Talk Talk for his phone and Internet, and Sky for his..well, sky!

Up until a few weeks ago all was well, and everything was fine, he was on i think TalkTalk 1mb braodband, which was fine for what he wanted, he got a letter through saying the service was being upgraded upto 8mb, great! free upgrade!

However, since then, its been a very odd scenario:

if he turns his pc on, it connects via the adsl modem, says connected at 8mbps, then disconnects, connects and keeps doing so, until, he or someone else calls his landline, which then kicks the internet into connecting and staying online, but now although the connection says 8mbps, he's literally getting about 1kb/s connection, it took 20 minutes to load multimap, then do a directions search.

Something is very wrong here, he;s tried calling TalkTalk a few times, but after 30-45 minutes of please hold, he (understanably) hangs up!

Has anyone heard of this happening before, or would he be best just packing up and moving everything to Sky?

talktalk have had a lot of problems with connections, there customer service is terrible and everyone i know who had talktalk have changed to a different provider, if he has sky TV then sky broadband would be recomended, 16mb for £10 a month

Yeah, i was hoping it wouldn't be an isolated incident, thanks for the heads up, i'll give him a call and let him know
