Ive got a 3870 Powercolor 512mb Gcard and im now intrested in getting something abit better.

I thought about a 4850

Budget £100-150

Whats the best solution 4 me?

Right, Ive decided get a 4850 :D work getting 1gb or stick with 512?

also 3870 will be for sale still got box and everything.

It depends on what sort of games you're playing. If you have to load a lot of high resolution textures on a large screen, then it may be worth getting the 1GB version. But buyer beware; it might be that the 1GB cards have their memory clocked lower than the 512MB cards, and that will result in LOWER performance. So if you do go for a 1GB card make sure it's running at the same speed at the 512MB card.

As for your 3870, I reckon you'll get about 50 or 60 quid for it on member's market. You might want to check though.

If you go for a 1Gb card then don't get the Powercolour PCS. Two of us on here have just had to return the damn things. Faulty batch maybe?

Get yourself a 1GB card if the price difference is small. There's no point at all cheaping out over a tenner when you can get a 1GB 4850 for less than £150.

I would ask yourself is the 4850 that much of an upgrade, or a worthwhile upgrade.
I have the same card as you and even on my 24" I can play cryisis on high DX9 no aa.
I keep thinking I want a new card but I'm going to wait until the next revamps/new cards come out.

The 4850 is a fantastic card, however I would only upgrade to it around the £110 mark. If your gonna spend more then its entering the 4870 bracket which is even better. Basically if your gonna spend > £110 wait till the 4870s drop or for MM.

It seems that it's the only choice for that budget. btw, i would buy a brand new 4850 rather than a second hand 4870 cos the performance difference for day to day use is tiny.
