Big old Windows 7 (and R2) hotfix tonight

what? win7 has been out since the end of July, what you get in the retail is the same as what i have had on my PC since August 6th. (gold partner)

to me it says a lot about win7 and how committed they are to get this right, to be honest the first thing you should do after installing win7 is run windows update.. it makes no difference if there is one update or 10, you just do it when you build a new system

He said released meaning to the general public don't be pedantic.

Good that they are already updating it.

I expect them to update at least once per week in the first few months.

Best these patches are out before general release, so when people have their new system or upgrade, it will be included all in one go when they go online.

15.9MB, that big enough, and the retail has not even been released yet. Does not say a lot for Win 7.

Yes! CURSE MS for releasing an update to an already very stable OS even in the early RC builds.

CURSE them for wanting to improve it for release and not making it perfect even in the early RC's!

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

:p

well he did not make it clear and simply pointed out a large % have had access to the final release for weeks if not months...

maybe you should look up pedantic in the dictionary

This should have been sorted out before Win 7 was sent to the manufacturer

Thats why microsoft are sending out these updates, they let it out too early.

you're being silly now, it's extremely hard for Microsoft to get a fully working OS on a multitude of hardware variations, Apple seem to be having issues and they have about 20 different models.

i'm just glad the hibernation issue is resolved, and you say it should have been resolved - well it only effected certain makes and models

stop being silly

Ideally, yes. But in the real world, software has bugs, and they're most likely to pop up soon after the software is exposed to a wide audience. MS are doing a good job fixing them proactively before the general release. Or do you really expect them to produce several gigabytes of faultless code, which runs 100% perfectly on thousands of hardware combinations and in millions of usage situations, right off the bat?

Updates are still being released for XP, 8 years after it came out. It's a natural part of the software lifecycle.

I had no x64 Pro problems before the updates this Patch Tuesday and have no problems post update install.

I continue to bathe Windows 7 in compliments and golden shower anyone who says otherwise about it and its updates!

It is that good.
