Ok, so basically, I just spent a lot on a new PC but it isn't working as well as I expected it to. When I first got it up and running it worked like a dream, bit recently it has been freezing constantly and I'm lucky if I can open Photoshop in under a minute. Then once it's open, it always crashes...any ideas???

It's a brand new system, I got it in April/May, the system specs are in my sig. My problem sounds exactly the same as bifday2k's. I know you're all joking, but I don't really watch pr0n, I download next to nothing, and never from an unrecognised site, plus my machine is practically empty. It's really unnerving; I'm just about to start college, so I really need the PC for that, plus it was money I shouldn't have spent being so close to being able to drive. But anyway, that's besides the point, the point is I need to fix this problem. OK, I'm not great with PC's so could someone talk me through what I should do. I won't be reading these posts from my PC so I can do whatever needs to be done. Please help!

OK, so i assume hdtune is on the internet. I'll look for it. And I know this is going to sound rather silly, but how do I go about re-installing the OS? Do i just clear me HDD and re-install everything...or is there an easier way???

OK, time to try this OS re-install. No viruses, no problems with the HDD. Thanks for all the help, lets hope it works!

OK, so I reinstalled my OS, and then installed all my drivers again, i did the hdtune test and it said everything was great with my HDD, but I am still having the same problem. Any more suggestions? So far I've ruled out: Viruses, OS problem, HDD problem. What else could it be?

OK, I'm trying to download memtest but it won't work. None of the downloadable files seem to want to open. Also, I have a 600W OCZ PSU, not entirely sure which one. Temps are fine, i've checked them many times and they seem to be constantly low. A link to memtest would be great, although I haven't had a single blue screen, so I'm not sure if that's the problem. I'm running prime95 as we speak, hopefully that will give us some clues about what's wrong, then I plan to run intelburntest. Let me know if you guys come up with any other ideas.

Yes everything is seated fine. It was working perfectly when I first got it, and it has not been knocked or hit since. Also, I haven't downloaded anything. Just basic games, and drivers, nothing illegal or over-intense. It freezes very randomly, sometimes it may take a couple of hours, sometimes is may do it just 30 seconds after launching, and it makes no difference what I'm running. I've got nothing on this PC, just the OS and software drivers. The thing that puzzles me is that everything was working perfectly, and suddenly it doesn't want to run. I want to try to avoid dismantling it, as that's a lot of hassle for me, but worst case scenario, I am quite prepared to do so.

Unfortunately no, I don't. And no, I bought this separately and put it together myself. If someone can definitely identify it as being the HDD I will happily send it back for repair. I need this PC guys!

I was trying to avoid opening it up to be honest as it is in a very tight and awkward place, plus it has a lot plugged in and around it, so that was my last resort to be honest. If you guys honestly think it will help then by all means I will do it. I don't have a spare HDD, is there a way to make sure it is the HDD before i unhook it and sent it for repair. I did a HDD test and it said my HDD was fine. Will run memtest in a second, but I really don't think it is the RAM.

OK I just ran intelburntest, on high, and I succeeded, so I think that rules out my CPU and RAM. Are there any stability tests for GPU's and HDD's. If so could you list them here so I can run them. I really need to identify the problem guys, my education rests on it, all of my files are on there. (They're backed up, but it's programs like Photoshop and Dreamweaver that I will need very soon and very often).

Well, I suppose good news, I ran HD Tune and that is not the problem, it came back 100% good, not a single bad MB. But the bad news with that is that I am still looking for the problem, going to run a GPU stress test next. Keep helping guys!

Again, another thing off the problems list. I just ran OCCT GPU Stress Test for an hour nd my GPU passed with flying colours. So far I've ticked off:
CPU
RAM
GPU
HDD
TEMPS
VIUSES
I know there's more things I can test, but where could my problems be?
