Right, i shall try and keep this short.

My driver for my Speedtouch 330 Modem messed up last night. When booting, i keep getting 2 flashing green lights and one flashing red light alternatly. Now the problem is that i have recently sold my DVD-RW and have yet to buy a new one. I am now unable to re-install the drivers.

I have copied some CRUCIAL driver files for the modem onto a floppy disc. There is also something called 'qt-mt310.dll'. I have had a look online and it appears to be spyware. I'm doubting whether this is needed for driver installation.

I've managed to fit the files that i think are NEEDED for driver installation onto a floppy. Will this work?

Please help urgently as i have less than an hour left online at the local library.

Cheers. :)

Hi,

I would say copy that as well. Although it may be spyware, the program/drivers/modem may not work correctly with out it.

The thing is that its 3.3mb and will not fit onto a floppy. I have compressed it but it weighs in at 1.45mb and still won't go on the floppy. :(

Then leave it. Go home try it without that file. Doesn't work, then go back to the Internet cafe and copy it to a floopy. Split it between two floppies. Use WinRAR to do that. ;)

I've managed to install WinRAR on the library PC. I've got the file down to just over 1mb.

I'll go home and see if i can get these working. If not, then i'll be without Internet connection for a while! :(

Cheers for your help Ice. :)

two words:

pen drive

I was just thinking that :)

The library might have USB ports disabled though, they did in my old college library. Or the OP might not have a pen drive. You could download the drivers from the internet and split them across several floppy disks rather than farting about with .dlls and "spyware".

If you still have a 56k modem in the machine, you could download the driver that way to the machine. Save you going to the cafe and you can have a coffee at home while watching TV till the driver downloads. :)

Well, i've only just got back online. The drivers i put onto floppies were obviously missing some crucial file.

I had to get a mate to download the driver onto his pen drive for me. All is good now though.

I've learnt a lesson on how handy pen drives can be. I shall definitely invest in one soon. :)
