Hey

I went out today and left the PC on for a bit got back and it had rebooted which I didnt think much of, however 10-20 mins later the PC powered down seemingly for no reason and refused to post.

I reset the CMOS and it booted first time and everything was good for another 10-20 mins then it did it again - screen went black everything shut down except for the fans and LEDs. Once again I reset CMOS but this time it didnt boot first time and I ahd to leave it unpluged for 2 hours before it decided to start again.

This post is the first thing ive done since ti started so Ive no idea if its going to do it again. If anyone has any ideas id be very grateful.

The first sign I thought would be is a PSU issue? it sounds as if its not getting enough juice, could you possible try another? PSU's are usually the first port of call to test :)

Edit: Specs also would be great :)

If it is the PSU then it must be on its way out cos Ive had this PC over a year now and its always been fine.

SpeedFan and MBM are saying the case temp is 42oC and the CPU is currently 29oC. Cant see much dust in the case although I did notice the exterior intake vent that I cant normaly see was totaly blocked >.< leaving just one on the other side to draw in air.

Check it for what? This was my first PC build and I didnt do much with the BIOS - I havent touched it at all since I built this system over a year ago now.

sounds like a temperature maybe even tempertaur of power supply shutting it down. when it boots try running some games see putting psu under load see if it shuts down quicker.,

Basicly I had it playing games all night last night np, today I booted up and it went down within 2 mins - it even did it in the BIOS when the PC had only been running for 2-3 mins. So the question is - do I replace the PSU or the motherboard as these seem like the most likely sources of the prolbem.

Is it possible for a PC to short itself if the PSU cables end up touching the wrong thing? Its a bit of a mess in my case andn ow ive opened it upand pulled all the wires out its behaving again.
