I am Upgrading my fathers computer from vista to seven. His dvd drive was dead so i replaced it . it was IDE the new one was sata . First i changed dvd to 1st boot device to boot from the cd ,The cd goes to initial loading files ,starting windows then a blank windows screen comes up and then nothing. So i go back into bios and change to hd as first boot . After verifying dmi pool at say load from cd faild insert system cd and press start. nothing happens ... But bios is still recognising the ide dvd drive which has been removed. So i can not install windows or start the pc with the old insall on the HD .. Help please i a baffled:confused:

My bad power from HD pulled out :o
But now i can not boot from cd . I have this as first boot device . bios loads up and askes me to hit any key to boot from cd,but it just loads into windows even though i press a key,all the keys!

I am beginning to think it might be the wireless keyboard he is using ??

Try a wired keyboard. If the motherboard is old you may need a keyboard with a PS2 connector or use a usb to PS2 adaptor.
