Big Problems Running OBLIVION

.........as the title states, ive got more than a good enough spec to run the game:
x1800xt 256mb
1gb dual geil value ram
amd 3700+ sa deigo
asus a8-n sli
onboard sound 6.1

that game starts fine, then the sound fades out / sounds distorted, then then i get about 3 fps and the computer restarts or the game crashes back to windows

my temps seem fine, mobo seems the hightest at about 45 underload
other than that i cant think why it wont work.....

any help would be great, someone suggested that it could be a memory leak, also what resolution and setting should my rig be able to handle on this game?

Are you overclocked? If so, stop it. If not, try tweaking the CPU voltage up a notch.


There are also problems with some sound cards: try disabling hardware sound.

im not overclocking, ive put everything back to stock - how do i disable hardware sound? and will that help?
