Started about a month ago with my 6800GT that i had. I had it for about 16months (or there abouts) before it started to go wrong where lines appeared on screen and then one day it just cut off totally and wouldnt display. So i sent the card back to the manufacturer for it to be tested and they said it was definitely faulty and wouldnt boot. I got a replacement a few weeks later of the same card, worked perfectly for about 8hours before problems started to occur. When the pc boots i get massive corruption, which means you cannot read any of the BIOS screen at startup and you get a funny matrix style screen when windows is loading. When you get into windows you cannot see the any corruption but the monitor will power on and off randomly at times.
For the time being im using my mates Ti4200 which runs perfectly and hasn't had any problems at all. The manufacturers have told me that the replacement card they sent was tested thoroughly before being sent out to me and was working.
My question to you is whether i was just unlucky that they had sent me a faulty card to start with or whether something is causing them to fault?
I did try the replacement card in my mates pc who runs the exact same card and it has the same corruption problems as on mine. Bare in mind that the ti4200 doesn't use the power connector unlike the 6800GT does, so im wondering if maybe that is dodgy as well?
Thanks a lot for any responses, Nick.
