Having just built my e6300/2gbGeil/x1900xt, I put my old sytem upstairs for the kids to use. Here is the spec:

XP-M (barton) 2500@3200 (2.2ghz)
MSI K7N-2 Delta 2 platinum
1.5gb generic PC3200 (3x512 sticks)
9800 pro (stock speeds)
200gb Samsung IDE hd
LG DVD/RW drive

Untill recently this sytem was very stable, but over the last few weeks it has got progressivley worse. It started with random crashes/lockups/reboots in games, which then became more and more frequent. Then it would just lockup or reboot when just using windows, surfing etc.

I took the XP-M back to stock, but it didn't make any difference. I then suspected the ram, so tried one stick at a time. Sure enough, 2 of the sticks refused to boot atall, and one of them boots but is incredibly unstable. What's worse, the system won't even boot into windows now, I just get a 'I/O read error' message after the post.

Is it likely that all 3 sticks are dead, or is it likely to be the mobo?

Can you try the memory in another PC, and also some different memory in that PC? Seems like the only way to be sure, unless you just take a chance and get some new memory.

Did you test with memtest or just trying to get into windows?

There's always the possibiliy one dodgy stick corrupted the windows installation...

Couldn't test with memtest, I can't even get that far :(

I think I'll have to just bite the bullet and get another stick, re-install windows and see how it goes.
