For those that never read my thread on a recommended graphics card upgrade I have just upgraded from a ATI Radeon HD5830......

To http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-339-SP&groupid=701&catid=56

Now everything went as clockwork with the install but heres the big question have I missed anything because to be honest I have played COD & Battle of Britain 2 and to be honest I have not seen any improvements that I have noticed....Both games running at max and at 60 fps, Now that means one of five things as I can see..

1) The HD5830 really is an amazing card!
2) The R 270 Sapphire is average!
3) I have missed something vital
4) Theres a better driver out there
5) Its faulty!

Incidently I connected it initally with a HDMI lead to my monitor and it would not work....just came up with no signal, soon as I connected via DVI it was fine... is this a setting thing within the software?

Regards Lee

Regarding the frames - Im assuming you're playing with vsync on? Im not aware of the benchmarks with those games, but the difference will be if you turned vsync off and see where your frames go then. I seems both can reach the capped 60fps, but i'm guessing the 270 can get there with less power?
Im sure somebody will be able to confirm.

Yes indeed I uninstalled the 5830 driver and the card then rebooted into windows then closed down and removed the 5830 installed the new card. Started up and used the new software and all seemed fine... I tried with V sync off and on....

I suppose the G840 (if you are still running the cpu in your siggy) could be holding it back. Have you monitored the load on the cpu and gpu when gaming?

Yes I am still running the G840 sadly, will be upgrading it shortly hopefully to a better chip.

I will in the meantime try that DDU software incase the old drivers remnants are causing the problem...

Thanks for the help will update you soon..
