For a fiver ? Easily worth it :) Its painkiller-esque straight forward cheesy fun. You get to ride a dragon and breath fire over the undead for christ sake !

I also recommend Cryostasis, if you like Penumbra, you really cant go wrong with this.

Men of War, while im not a fan, i know a lot of people on this forum have a lot of praise for it, and with it going for a tenner, people should really give it a look :).
 
How does this work? Is it like steam where the game is added to your account and you can download it as and when or is a massive rip off where you can only download it once / a set number of times?
 
They're doing a bit of a Steam on their exchange rates - £ 7.95 is € 9.34 at the moment, they've got Cryostasis up for € 12.

You buy a game, you download a small exe file, you run it and it starts downloading the game, once downloaded, you go through the installer, once thats done, it asks if you want to remove the downloaded files and exe, or keep them for future use. Its pretty good, and yeah you can download as often as you like :).
 
Without getting into a whole discussion about Cryostasis is it worthwhile for those with Ati cards. Is the demo a true reflection of the performance of the full game?

Well, I've got it and had no problems running it. The performance I've had, as discussed in another thread, is sometimes when the frames dip it still runs smooth. For example, was playing Crysis Warhead yesterday and to start with I put all settings possible to the highest and predictably, with 8xAA the frames dropped at some points to around 10. Thing was it was only just unplayable, the gameplay felt more like 20 - 25. Cryostasis is like this. Turn all settings on to max and lower resolution ;) All depends on what you feel is 'playable'. Check my rig and compare with yours, should be a reasonable guide.

I found the full game to be a bit better performance wise, the demo was meant as a fancy playable PhysX demo (i dont mean the benchmark), and it did put me off trying to full game, but im really glad i did. I slapped all the settings on highest and ran at 1024x768 and it was pretty damned smooth with my 8800 GTS. My friends ATI 4870 can go a bit higher resolution wise, so i wouldnt say it was that bad with ATI.
 
I'm glad I tried the demo of cryostasis last night as there is all sorts of issues that make it unplayable for me. I am getting serious frame-skipping and when I go outside the first room the sound gets badly corrupted and a few seconds later no sound. Pity because the game sounds interesting.
 
I found the next space rangers expansion, in my books, one of the top games, just because of how many genres it contains and merges with them all rather well.
