Why are Nec trying to sell LCD TV's as Monitors?

They don't seem to have an inbuilt tuner, so technically they're monitors.

they also have a higher resolution. 1920x1200 compared with 1920x1080. aspect ratio is 16:10 not 16:9

only the nec 57" has a resolution of 1900x1080 which is 16:9(tv)

The rest have a terrible 1366x768.

They are blooming tv's lol.

They aren't really desktop monitors...they're really for display purposes given the quality, size and price. If you wanted to make an impression in a corporate environment they'd get all the tech geeks salivating over your stand/display/presentation. That isn't to say they would make a bad TV or monitor (they'd be incredibly good), but they're obviously geared towards a premium crowd.

SO if they are monitors, Why such a low resolution? Does it use a TV panel or something?

well there's not really anything which seperates a TV LCD panel from a desktop LCD panel. Both are the same tech, just typically aimed at different markets based on size and resolution

A monitor just means the screen takes the signal from a device (computer)...the constraints you're putting on a screen in order to be a monitor are misplaced.

sorry id only really looked as far as the 26" - which does have 1920x1200. anything bigger would be too much for my room so i hadnt paid much attention to the specifications
