I've been having trouble with chipset temperatures on the ASUS P6T running a [email protected] and with a 280GTX. The problem only started since fitting an Akasa Nero HSF, and the issue is that the chipset HS is nestled between the Akasa and the 280GTX (which itself runs hot). It's OK when idle or average use, but mine is munching SETI@Home units at 100% Load on the CPU and CUDA units on the 280GTX which keeps that toasty too...

CPU HSF does it's job and the cores sit around 65-68, the 280GTX hits 80 which is not great but OK. Real problem is the chipset which also could hit 80 and that caused instability and some lockups. With replacing the CPU HSF the chipset HS no longer gets any air - the exhaust from the Akasa is taken straight out the back of the case.

So, I just got around to fitting a 120mm fan to the side of the case pointing at the chipset HS. Temps of that under the same operating conditions have dropped to 43deg - a huge reduction of nearly 40deg. The side fan helps with the 280GTX a bit too, temp of that down to 75deg.

Didn't mess with 7v just leave it running flat out :D increased the noise levels but I can live with it.
