It's probably obvious I guess, but I hadn't really realised it before.

Went from a 40" HDTV to a 26" CRT and there's a huge, huge difference in what you can see on the screen. Massively impacts on your ability to play games to your best ability.

Can't wait 'till I can get myself another big TV :)

Hmm not entirely convinced that's the case.
I swap between my 22" Samsung PC monitor and my 40" Sumsung HDTV.
Actually feel im better on my 22" since im sitting much closer

I know it's pretty obvious that you can technically see more Bob, but it's not something that many people seem to mention. I had a go of COD4 there on the little CRT and it's so difficult compared to the big TV.

Funny I found it better to go to a smaller screen. (obviously not too small) and retain the same resolution.
Big screen = sit further back + move head left to right.
Small screen = close up - head movement

small CRT > CRT >>> small LCD > small LCD

Im getting a 40" LCD so I can go HD on my Xbox over my 32" tube Panny CRT. Whether or not its makes me play better we'll see

Im sure on things like COD ill be able to see better when sighting stuff and have more clarity on moving shapes but im pretty sure ill have to sit further back otherwise your peripheral will suffer and you actually need to move you head to scan the screen, that then kinda detracts from having the extra detail.

bigger the screen the better imo - esp in 5.1 DD sound :D awesomeness :D

(used to do pc gaming on a crt and lcd)

but sitter further back helps your eyes a bit more and your more relaxed on the sofa rather than being hunched up in a chair at a desk.
(would NOT use a crt for gaming! very bad healthwise - trust me)

When using my 26'' HD it is great as the res is high so everything is clear, and i can sit quite close allowing me to concentrate better.
It depends what you are playing to be honest, When I play online games or shotting games i need to sit close so I can aim properly and such, but a game of fifa i sit on my bed / couch and relax :)

I would say gaming on my projector greatly hinders aiming, you do get used to it but its still a bit wrong, you tend to overcompensate quite a lot.

It is however, incredibly enjoyable and immersive, cod4 and forza really suck you in.

It's a moot point with consoles as they require tiny amounts of skill compared to PC games (in the FPS genre)

Thats a sweeping statement to make.

RB6:V on the 360 requires more skill to play than UT3 on the pc.

It all comes down to the idividual game not to mention the individual user.
