I have just fitted a Thermaltake big typhoon and 120mm fan but with the fan connected to the cpu fan socket when exiting bios i get "cpu fan speed incorrect system will shut down in 2 seconds" and it does.
The board is a Winfast K7ncr18d pro.Thermaltake tell me to disable the fan speed sensor in bios but i can't find one to disable!!
The origional fan shows 4200rpm and the BT fan shows 0rpm.At the moment i have the BT connect to the chipset fan socket and the origional fan connected to the cpu fan socket and hanging out of the top of the case.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's either one of two problems:

Some monitoring systems can not monitor fans under a certain RPM and will show the fan speed as 0 instead, and I'm sure the Big Typhoon fan spins very slow.

It's either that or the fan itself is faulty when it comes to RPM monitoring.

I can only suggest replacing the fan of the Big Typhoon with the old fan you are using now, or if you want quiet look for another fan with pushes good air whilst remaining quiet and replace.

Another option would be to just run the fan off a molex power connection rather than to te motherboard; I do this and get better temps as fan is running at full rpm.

Problem with that is he'll likely get a No Fan Connected error and it'll do the same thing if he can't disable it in the BIOS.

Just use the CPU connector for one of the other fans in your case.

I have just connected an 80mm case fan to the cpu fan socket and it reads the speed for that. With the BT fan connected it reads 0rpm so i will have to get another 120mm and try that one. Will any 120mm fan be ok or are is there one in particular that would be worth looking for?
