Hi,

Any thoughts on this?

I've just spent the past 4 hours moving my PC into a Antec P180 and a installing a Big Typhoon.

I was expecting a miracle in cooling however the CPU temp is only 4C better than stock @ the low case fan setting, 5C better at the medium case fan setting.

So in a warm room @ 24C my opteron 165 @ 2.4Ghz 1.35v is Dual Priming @ 46C.

I was expecting a little more in this case with this cooler. I've removed and refitted the cooler several awkward times, in the end I retained the retention module and screwed the bracket down to that. It seem physically stable and there is no movement in the fixings.

Previously in a cheap £30 case with PSU I was getting 50C Dual prime @ 1.35v using the stock opteron heatpipe cooler.

anyone else have a Big typhoon on a Dual core CPU ? would like to know some other temps etc.

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback guys,

The 4 heatpipe cooler was quite good, the first cooler I've ever owned which could drop idle temps below the mainboard temp by a few degrees and @ 2.6Ghz 1.45v it would hold 53C in a cool room but with the heating on full blast temps climbed towards 60C.

My previous case had 5 x 80mm fans + 80mm CPU, Nbridge and 7800GTX so it was rather noisy. The Antec is a fair degree quieter but not silent by any stretch of the imagination even with fans all set to low.

Morning Prime temps are 42C with a room temp of 20C so the difference has remained a constant 22C

Once it's settled in for another day or so I'll start pushing harder and see how it performs @ 2.6/2.7Ghz with a little more vcore

Thanks again
