I will be getting my new replacement Dell U2711 (hopefully) next week. At present I am using a Dell ST2420L which is working fine (albeit looked terrible at first)

I have an ATI 5770 which plays the few games I have fine. I mainly watch movies, tv shows, browse the web and play music

Would you;

A. Keep the Dell 27"
B. Try and sell it for around £550 and get a monitor for £350 and new graphics card for around £200
C. Other

If B, which monitor as there are some 27" ones for around £350. Maybe something like this for £400 then £150 on a new graphics card

The only game I really played was Battlefield 2 that demanded a good graphics card, Starcraft 2 is also installed but I dont really play it anymore. I know BF3 is just around the corner

The Dell was a really nice screen and the 2560x1440 was fantastic, the only thing I didnt like was the anti-glare coating. It looked some someone had smeared vaseline on my £650 monitor!

Consider if your PSU is sufficient for a GPU upgrade.

Keep the Dell 27.
Then upgrade the GPU to a 580 3GB.

The alternative is:
Sell the Dell 27.
Buy the Dell 24 off the MM.
Buy a 570.

But I don't find that particularly cost-effective.

580 is not possible, £460 on a graphics card IMO is a daft idea. It will ditch in price and money will be best used on holidays, festivals and clothes

I will look into the Dell 24, thanks

If you want a 27" 2560x1440 monitor to game on then you will also need to splash out on a GPU or two to run your games on it
