Changed direct debit over with Virgin media 3 months ago, got a bill last week for £75, phoned told me no debit has gone through but card WAS cancelled unless i pay the cash i wont be getting a service.

I spoke about cancelling the account and re-opening
Phoneline : "sorry not possible without the account being paid for"
Me: "So if another person moves into this home they can't open an account with you?"
Phoneline: "Not untill the £75 is paid"

Yeah right mate you total crappers!

Anyone know another cable internet service?

I'm not sure I understand your post. You haven't paid the bill, and you're trying to cancel your account?

We changed direct debit and i phoned a week later to check it was all ok.

"Yes Mr.Kelly all is fine on our end."

I then recieved a bill telling me how i owed £75 and no payments had gone through, so i either pay the £75 or lose the service, so the direct debit obviously just didn't go through yet i was told it had 3 months ago.

So, they haven't received money for whatever reason...and the fact that they are wanting money from you is the "biggest load of crap ever"

Well i don't have £75 to just chuck away, if i knew the payment wasn't going through from the first month when i phoned all would be well but £75 atm is just to much money.

The whole point of the matter is that i phoned up to check it was all done and was told it was, but if that was the case we wouldn't be in this situation now.

If they have not been taking the £25 a month then the money will still be in your account.

Indeed. I can see both sides though - it's Virgin's fault for not contacting you the first month there was a problem, but on the other hand you should've been checking what was going out of your account.

I had a similar issue when I moved house - was told everything was sorted and then the next month a bill comes through with a late payment charge. Wasn't happy at seeing a £150 bill (2 months at £70 and £10 late charge) but at the end of the day, I didn't check that the money had left my account so I just paid up, sorted the direct debit issue out and moved on - the previous month's money was still in my account after all.

Also, there's no other cable provider - it's Virgin only, although I believe AOL did offer service via NTL's network at some point.

I had a similar issue when I moved to Orange a while ago.
For some reason they had made a mistake on my Direct Debit setup.
I kept on getting bills through the post and I kept on ignoring them as I assumed they were mistakes - I'd setup direct debit after all.

They got it wrong and I ended up owing them for 4 months line rental and calls - not the worlds smallest bill.
Annoying yes, certainly not the biggest load of crap and at the end of the day I owed them for service - so just paid up.
