Bike brake issues

Hi,

Just got my bike out of the garage after far, far to long with a view to actually using the damn thing. Naturally it's been left uncared for and needs some maintenance to be ridable once more.

Tyres have been pumped up and everything seems ok except for the rear brake which doesn't work at all

The lever has no resistance to it and I can't see anything disconnected - any ideas before I simply take it to someone who knows what they are up to?

Does the cable at the other end move when you use the lever?

What kind of brakes, V or disc ?

Disc and I can't see any movement but the cable is sheathed...

Sounds like the cable is either seized or broken inside if the caliper side doesnt budge. Easy enough to fit a new cable.

Is it cable or hyrdaulic brakes? Is it just a hose or does it have an inner wire running within it?

Turns out they were hydraulic! To be fair I bought the bike 4 years ago and have barely used it

Took it to the local shop and got it sorted
