Hi peeps.

Well iam normally a fit guy, but this winter has my fitness has gone to pot and iam starting to loose sight of my stomach muscles.

Anyway, ive just started cycling into work again, for the summer. Its 10 miles each way. Takes about 40 minutes on average.

So, do you think iam going to be gaining significant fitness, or will i get to a level and then plateau.

Also, will i end up burning loads of fat, and start seeing those stomach muscles again or will they ammount of food i have to eat to keep my body going equalize out and i stay like i am?

Thanks

:)

10 miles in 40 minutes is pretty good going. I do 5 miles in 20 when I am really going for it!

You won't gain a six pack but you will be seriously fit!

If you are anything like me you will eat a lot more.

I have a good road bike! But will it burn fat and keep me trim and cut?

A road bike explains it, I have a full sus mountainbike with knobly tires.

Yes you will burn fat and slim down.

Cycling is the 2nd best form of exercise to Swimming.

As i figured really, but thought my body might get used to it and plateau.

Cheers

when you plateau, try pedalling faster :D
or do as one of the guys I work with does - 6 miles each way, but he does 6 in the morning, and 12 on the way home...goes the long way home. nutter!!

I'm going to start the exact same thing soon - 8 miles to work.
trying to pick up a decent road bike first, then it's ditch the car and save a fortune whilst getting fit at the same time - bonus.

Road bikes are the way, my journey used to take 50 mins on my mountain bike!

Treated myself to a Scott Speedster S4 last month :) Very nice she is....

ps, if you want to buy 2nd hand, check the gumtree, loads of road bikes on there at the monment.

lovely, thanks for the heads up

was watching the auction site..seems a lot goes on there for o.t.t. prices
spotted a few webstores doing sales on last years bikes - especially saracens.

I've done my 8 mile journey in about 35-40 minutes on a dual suspension knobbly tyre job - looking to take a good 10mins off that time with a decent road bike.

Actually, I'm tempted to get a roadie. I do 16 miles a day getting too ad from work. Takes about 35 mins on my hard tail mountain bike. As for fitness, I find it helps a lot, however I do other sports as well to compliment it.
