Bike insurance, what comparison sites to look at?

I have searched websites like confused.com for bike insurance, but they are dam expensive... I remember looking at insurances couple months ago and they were less than 500 and now the cheapest that comes up is 700...

What sites should I look at?

P.s. What happens if the bike is not on the list? Do I have to give them all the info about the bike?

and yeah just make/model of bike

mines just come through for my zx6 £186!!! looked online and got it for £106

Check each comparison site result against that of each other comparison site (you may find differing results), before picking some and approaching the insurance broker direct. You can often play them off against each other too, resulting in competitive rates!!

Carole Nash, for example, often have nicely low prices for new policies, although their annual renewals tend to skyrocket once they think they've got you.

yeah bennetts additons or something its normaly £20 more expensive than the cheapest quote but it includes legal, brakedown, leathers and helmet & and personal injury or at least on my compare quotes

I found Bennets were the best value this time around. However, went direct and got it even cheaper because the comparison websites don't have all of the details to enter.

Beware of Bennetts. Cheap enough, but following my theft claim recently with them I've been having to talk to them, to the underwriter, and the theft handler. In essence I'm having to do everything 3 times which to me negates the benefit of a broker.

Beware also of Bennetts renewals.
They claimed they would save me £130 if I renewed with them, despite the fact that my insurance was now £280 *more* than what I paid the previous year!!!

I rang bennetts up and said I got cheaper quote from mcedwards and they matched it (that was when my renewal came through)

i seem to always be under written by equitiy red star where ever i buy insurance, for the last 15 or so years.

Beware of most if not all insurance companies in regards to renewals though. Always reject the renewal quote and do it from scratch.

When I used Comparetheannoyingtvrat website to get a uuote on my new bike, the exact model was listed as a sports bike hiking the price up. When I entered the year and used an option that didn't have ABS in the title it listed the bike correctly as an Adventure bike and the price was where I expected it to be. I wonder if anyone ever gets caught out like that with incorrect detail or vehicle models?
