I need to get new front brake pads and brake pipes + a rear brake disc to get my Fazer 600 through it's MOT.

I'm on a real budget as finances are tight and have seen on-line that the parts vary in cost vastly. Are the cheaper budget ranges good enough for the job or should they be avoided at all costs as they are dangerous?

I'm not bothered if the only difference is they wear out quicker - just want to make sure I'm not taking extra risks by going too cheap.

I bought some cheap Kyoto pads from eBay, full set around £20, and they are fine (not failed to stop yet), but it wouldn't surprise me if they wore out quicker than better branded ones.

I wouldn't put cheap pads in my front but I would the rear & rear disc, ***** thing is about useless anyway & my fronts about rip my face off.

ive always bought ebc sintered pads but last few years prices have become ridiculous, been using goldfren sintered last year and they are just as good imo

Sounds like your rear brake caliper needs servicing no way should it be as bad as you say not only is it dangerous It is totally wrong to rely on the fronts only and the wrong way to brake.

That being said most fronts are a touch better than a rear but the brake should easily lock up, how did pass the MOT ?

Edit: Fronts will feel much better in general this is when you need to be more careful especially in the wet You think the rear is not doing its job but it is, that is the time when you will have a lock up which is not good.

What I am really saying is your rear is probably better than you think :D

Have you never ridden a sports bike? The rear breaks are ****, its just a fact of life, and the front breaks aren't just a 'bit' better, they are miles better. If you ever go on track riders don't even use the rear brake, it is effectively redundant.

On a sportsbike like 4T5s a rear break will be **** because how the bike is designed, the rear break on my DL650 however is good because its a touring bike which is designed to not stop really really fast on the front breaks.

25 years of experience or not don't think your better than anyone else. It wont get you far.

lol have I ever ridden a sports bike before.

Why would I think I am better than any one else ? I was just after a little respect when helping some one new to the biking thing.

When I come into the bike forum I do not expect console attitude with roly eye comments.

Would you like my bike record over 30 years ?

The 'I have 25 years riding experience and your new' comment is the thing that stinks of 'im better than you'.
You say your after a bit of respect, but your wording has something to be desired, you also asked how it passed its MOT, well obviously the break is fine otherwise it wouldn't.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

;)

Well just for your Peace of mind my bike was MOT'd a month ago & has done 500 miles since of Very easy riding, The bike is in Perfect working order & I think Metbandit makes my point better than I could.

go **** yourself.

Just :p again & Pot, Kettle, Black.

Not sure on the purpose of your quote but if your referring to 25 years and 30 I ride off round bikes e.t.c before I passed my test.

I see I have hit a nerve here all I was doing was trying to help a new rider and yes I was a little flip pent with the MOT comment it was the roly eyes that set me off.

My S4 needed a new clutch cable as I could felt it sticking, turned out it was frayed and I was riding on borrowed time. Went to my local dealer, £30 please, oh and it's not in stock... "Thanks, I'll try eBay." Pattern part £12 deliveredthankyouverymuch.

.one. has a point though. Brakes are brakes, and I personally wouldn't put overly cheep parts on either the front or back. They are far from redundant. Applying the brakes properly is meant to include both front and back as it helps a lot with stability. I know on the S1000RR when you apply the front brake, it automatically apples some back brake for you as well.
I know you won't generally be able to stop with just the rear, and though habit you can just end up using the front, but it's not the correct way to brake.

As for the Op, you say money is tight, but how tight? Are you replacing the hosing on both the front and back brakes?

not fussed about who's ***k is bigger but back onto cheap brakes.

Id avoid any chinese or cheap brake parts, saving a few quid could cost your a lot more if you get a failure.
