Hi All,
My wife and I are looking to pick up a couple of bikes through the Cycle to Work scheme offered by our employer. Security at work isn't an issue, but living in a Manchester suburb (and not the best one at that), we're concerned by security at home.
Our house isn't over-large, so storing two bikes in the house is pretty much out of the question. Our yard is *small*, so a conventional shed is also out of the question. The yard isn't visible from the road, thanks to a seven foot wall, with a two foot fence at the top, but this hasn't stopped things (a couple of alloy wheels) being pinched in the past.
My thoughts at the moment are :
Build a small bike sized 'shed' from bricks - I'm not sure how much this would likely cost... we would likely use the option below too. I've seen metal up & over lockers, but at £500 a pop, this is too rich for our budget.
Use a ground anchor, and heavy chains (and a cover) - I'm concerned that this will still attract attention.
Store them in the house anyway. Not sure how we'd do this without encroaching too much into floorspace.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem? What storage do those of you in terraced houses favour?
